They can also be lost to mental illness and homelessness. To slavery and oppression. How many gifts spilled, bled out, and thrown into unmarked graves—it is too difficult to fathom.”

Cynthia Bond has taught writing to homeless and at-risk youth throughout Los Angeles for more than sixteen years and taught therapeutic writing at Paradigm Malibu Adolescent Treatment Center.
